The daily cases were slightly more — 4,631 — than the previous day when the country reported 2,64,202 new infections, while the Omicron numbers breached the 6000 mark with an increase of 5.01% since Friday.
With slight jump reported in the last 24 hours, the numbers of people who have succumbed to the viral disease so far has risen to 4,85,752 while the case fatality rate is 1.32%. India’s active caseload increased by 1,45,747 in a day and now stands at 14,17,820, the highest in 223 days. It comprises 3.85% of the total infections.
Meanwhile, with 1,22,684 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of people who have recuperated from the disease so far has risen to 3,49,47,390 even as the national recovery rate has decreased to 94.83%, the health and family welfare ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was 16.66% while the weekly positivity rate was 12.84%.
As per the ministry, over 1,56,02,51,117 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.
Also, a total of 70.07 crore tests have been conducted so far, including 16,13,740 in the last 24 hours.
